Lenten Bible Studies

Lent is the time period between Ash Wednesday and Holy Saturday (the Saturday before Easter). It is traditionally a time to draw closer to the Lord, repent of our sins, and help others in need. As part of our Lenten observance here at BFUMC we are offering two different Bible studies to help you draw closer to the Lord:

1. Luke– Join with Pastor Megan on Sunday nights at 5:00 pm from Feb. 26- April 2nd as we take a deeper look at the life and ministry of Jesus as told in the gospel of Luke. We will be using pastor and bestselling author Adam Hamilton’s new study Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts, and Outlaws. Through Luke’s stories we find Jesus’ care and compassion for all as he welcomes sinners and outcasts. As we study Luke and see Jesus’ concern for those who were considered unimportant, we hear a hopeful and inspiring word for our lives today.

2. The I AM Statements of Jesus– Join with Pastor Beth on Sunday nights in this 7 week study following Rob Fuquay’s book, The God We Can Know: Exploring the I Am Sayings of Jesus beginning March 5th. In the gospel of John Jesus says that he is light. Bread. Shepherd. Life. One by one, Jesus’ statements grab our imagination, reveal more about his identity and purpose, and connect us to the God of Moses, who spoke the first “I Am.” These significant yet ordinary images (bread, light, shepherd, vine, and more) give us insightful ways to experience Jesus and point us to a God who wants to be known. This class will provide deeper information to go along with the Lenten sermon series.
